Founded in 2023, Mecatron is a multidisciplinary student team from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. United by a shared passion for underwater robotics, we primarily focus on underwater vehicle development, marine competitions and research opportunities. We also pioneer outreach initiatives that inspire others to explore marine science & technology.

Technical Roles

- Optimize vehicle designs through fluid dynamics analysis and iterative improvements to enhance performance and reduce drag.

- Design and optimize 3D models, technical drawings, and components while supporting prototyping, testing, and iteration for performance and manufacturability.

- Develop and validate autonomous underwater vehicle software using ROS, tackle computer vision and navigation tasks, and collaborate on fast-paced projects, including ROS 1 to ROS 2 migration.

- Lead and mentor software teams, oversee robotics software development and ROS migration, and enhance the software stack while integrating hardware components.

- Maintain and enhance Mecatron's website, develop engaging features, optimize user experience, and create digital educational resources about marine topics.

Administrative & Outreach Roles

- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and employee welfare, ensuring a positive and productive team culture within Mecatron.

- Manage the procurement process, balancing cost-effectiveness and quality, ensuring the timely acquisition of materials and components for the team’s projects and competitions.

- Plan and execute outreach activities to promote marine science and technology, engaging students and the public through workshops, talks, and events.

- Design and develop educational materials to inspire and educate young learners about the limitless potential of marine science & technology.

- Create visually engaging graphics and design materials for both digital and print formats, enhancing Mecatron's outreach efforts and communication.
